The Short(CUT)s' Festival has received more than 250 worldwide submissions. Since there were no restrictions, every kind of work is in: videoarts, birthday parties' footage, interactive movies, and even early movies of notorious filmmakers.
How to fit all this in a few hours of exhibition? That's the question the projectionist, star of the Short(CUT)s' Festival, will try to answer. It's his responsibility to choose in "real time" which works will be exhibited, and how to do it.
This proposal evokes the pre-history of the Cinema, when the mechanism operator had complete autonomy over the projection. He could even combine rolls of different film in the same spectacle.
Short(CUT)s' Festival's overture will be March 21st, at the Itaú Cultural Institute, in São Paulo, where the festival sessions willlast until May. After that, it will go to other Brazilian cities.
Short(CUT)s' Festival is promoted by Cine Falcatrua inside the Itaú Cultura Rumos Visual Arts program 2005-2006.
