Bangladesh NGOs Network for Radio and Communication Developed in collaboration with: WSIS Executive Secretariat |
BNNRC is a national networking body working for building a democratic society based on the principles of free flow of information, equitable & affordable access to Information, Communication Technology (ICT) for remote & marginalized population. BNNRC registered with Ministry of Law, Parliamentary and Justice Affairs, Government of Bangladesh as a trust and established in 2000 as per Article 19 charter of UN bill of rights.
BNNRC now strive for following core interventions to achieve Millennium Development Goals(MDGs):
1. Awareness on correlations of ICT, poverty alleviation and Institutionalization of Democracy
2. Establishment of ICT Resource Center and Promotion of Radio Listeners Club as primary ICT catalyst in remote rural areas
3. Advocacy and Campaign for Bridge the Digital Divide/Information Divide
4. Piloting of ICT4D projects at rural areas to create show case examples for greater multiplication
5. Establishment Radio Amateur Civil Emergency Services (RACES)

| This article examines broadcast media in Bangladesh and the importance of a free and vibrant media.
A vibrant, free media which can investigate and comment upon matters of public interest is essential to control corruption, to ensure that matters of public interest are properly understood and debated by citizens and generally to promote accountability and transparency. This is no less true of the broadcasting sector, the medium which has the greatest reach and influence in Bangladesh, than of the print sector.
