About Me:
I was born (1952) and educated in Geneva (CH) until my first degree ("licence-ès-lettres") in 1977, and I also obtained a postgrad diploma in conference interpretation techniques from the Polytechnic of Central London (now University of Westminster) in 1978.
I taught French and English as foreign languages in Switzerland, England and Italy, in middle and secondary schools and at University, from 1973 to 2001. I have also been - and still am - a freelance translator since 1971.
From July 2002 to October 2006, I was in charge of information and training at ADISI (Associazione di Diritto Informatico della Svizzera Italiana). In October 2006, together with Anna Veronese and Luca Mascaro, we started the work group "Noi Media" for the furthering of knowledge and use of "Web 2.0" applications in the Italian speaking part of Switzerland, in particular in education. We write in turn a column called "Navigare Meglio" for the consumers' review Spendere Meglio; the texts of this column also appear in the Navigare Meglio category of our blog.
Since 2003, I have been member of comunica-ch, the Swiss Civil Society platform. I am also member of the Swiss Internet User Group (SIUG).
As to my involvement in the Digital Divide Network: I initially joined the mailing-list on the advice of Bonnie Bracey-Sutton, who has been my mentor in the use of ICT in education since 2001, and I had the priviledge to be one of the beta-testers of this platform. DDN, together WWWEDU, the Web and Education Discussion List, have been fundamental meeting, learning and sharing communities for me.
