A Management & ICT Consultant and social activist, specializing in decentralization and good governance. At 52, he has a quarter century of hands-on experience, in Asia and Americas.
Co-Founder of the International Transparency and Accountability Network (TrAcNet), a global, not-for-profit consortium of Social Activists, for ‘Better Self Administration’, through Community Centric Sustainable Development (http://TrAcNet.blogspot.com). Co-Founder of Life Line to Business (LL2B), an ICT organization, specializing in e-Governance (http://ll2b.blogspot.com/). Registered as a DICON Consultant with the Asian Development Bank. Active member of UNDP - Solutions Exchange - Decentralization Community.
Developed and implemented: (i) “e-Administration”, a web enabled, platform neutral, paper-less e-Office Communication and Collaboration Tool, using open source tools, to transform organizations. (ii) An integrated e-Platform, for single window clearance, for the Industrial Guidance Bureau, Government of Pondicherry, connecting 20 Departments electronically, to speed-up Government process, attract investments, create employment and alleviate poverty.
Recipient of the prestigious “Manthan Award 2006”, for pioneering work in “e-Inclusion and Livelihood”, for good governance in rural India. Mr. Alok Srivasthava, Moderator, UNDP - Solutions Exchange - Decentralization Community has said, “What is certainly good about your effort is the attempt to combine IT knowledge with practical programmes. I am sure your initiative will bring transparency in the overall implementation of Solution Exchange". Nominated for the World Summit Award 2007.
Executed a “Short term consultancy for submission of strategy paper and status report on ICTD interventions and National Rural Employment Guarantee Act implementation, to plug the learnings in the overall National e-Governance Plan of Govt. of India, for National Institute for Smart Government, for submission to UNDP, who is supporting Min. of Rural Development, GOI.
Director and Board Member of Productora Mexicana de Tuberia, a Mexican subsidiary of ISPAT International NV, for five years. Assisted the management in reviving a closed Manufacturing Company in Mexico and achieve a turnaround in its operations, in short span of time; hands-on experience in obtaining ISO 9002 and executing contracts of US$ 200 million.
Senior Manager and Staff Officer to Chairman, Steel Authority of India Limited, a leading Public Sector in India, for 2 years from 1992 to 1994. Assisted the Chief Executive to achieve turnaround of SAIL in 1993.
Regional Manager of SAIL, Salem Steel Plant at New Delhi from 1990-92. During this period, single-handedly liaised for the Plant with the Corporate Office and the Government of India, to obtain the sanction for installation of hot rolling stainless steel mill at Salem. Obtained the first domestic stainless steel coin blanks order from the India Government Mints, thereby introducing, domestic manufacture of stainless steel coin blanks, saving valuable foreign exchange for the country. Felicitated with the “Jawaharlal Nehru Best Executive Award” in 1992.
Management Trainee to Manager, SAIL, Salem Steel Plant from 1977 to 1990. Gained hands on experience in Governance of a Public Sector.
An ISO 9000:2000 certified lead auditor and SEI-CMM trained; specialized in ICT4D by attending a 3-month virtual international course. Member of various professional bodies and social organizations; extensively traveled in India and abroad; holds a post graduate degree in science and managerial training and experience; conducts personality development programmes in soft skills, communication skills, self confidence, etc for teachers, students and professionals.
