About Me:
I recently joined the National Alliance For Media Arts and Culture under the auspices of the AmeriCorps *VISTA Community Technology Centers Project. The Project places AmeriCorps *VISTA members with non-profit organizations across the country that utilize information and communications technologies to address the needs of low-income and at-risk communities. Likened to ‘domestic PeaceCorps’ for the 21st century, Project members provide capacity building services to non-profit organizations by using technology tools in innovative and resourceful ways.

CTC VISTA members work to build the capacity of the individual organizations where they serve and collaborate with other VISTAs on the development of resources, trainings, and related projects. Through their work the Project endeavors to build a network that facilitates collaboration, support, and the sharing of ideas among a diverse group of participating organizations.

While at NAMAC, I will be researching and implementing interactive web technologies to support NAMAC’s online community building efforts. Much of this will support NAMAC as an information, policy, and resource aggregator for the diverse media communities it serves.

Prior to joining NAMAC, I served as a first year VISTA at the San Diego LGBT Community Center in heading the development their Digital Storytelling Program. I also developed a knowledge management system for the San Diego Community Technology Coalition (utilizing Drupal/CiviCRM) while co-founding a node of Share, a global network of new media artists dedicated to spontaneous and open ‘jams’.

I currently hold a self-designed BA in Critical Inquiries in New Media Technologies from the University of California, Santa Cruz.
